A Place with a Story
High Cloud Farm was once the home of the renowned explorer, adventurer, and author Christina Dodwell — and her adventurous spirit still lingers in the air. Maps, books, and artefacts from her travels are scattered throughout the property, offering little glimpses into a life spent exploring the world. It gives the house a warmth and individuality you won’t find in a cookie-cutter holiday let — this is a home with a soul, a story, and a sense of wonder.

A Retreat for All Generations
Few places manage to bring together three generations comfortably, but High Cloud does it beautifully. The Farmhouse sleeps 12 and the Barn sleeps another 12, giving everyone their own space yet keeping the group connected. Both buildings sit side by side on a private hilltop estate, surrounded by open fields, with nothing but birdsong and distant sheep for company.
Inside, the Farmhouse blends rustic charm with modern comfort — think flagstone floors, beams, and generous country kitchens. The Barn, once a working building, has been reborn as a stunning multi-use space: light, airy, and perfect for shared meals, laughter, and celebrations. It even doubles as a yoga or wellness studio, with wide open views that invite calm and reflection.

Dine, Feast, and Celebrate
Food brings people together — and at High Cloud, everyone can dine in one space. The Barn’s huge dining table seats up to 24 guests, making it perfect for milestone birthdays, family reunions, or that long-overdue catch-up with old friends. With three fully equipped kitchens (one in the Barn and two in the Farmhouse), cooking for a crowd is surprisingly easy — or you can make life simpler by booking a private chef to handle the feast while you pour the wine and soak up the view.
The Games Room is the heart of evening entertainment — complete with table tennis, pool, and space to simply relax together. And when the laughter gets loud, no one’s complaining — the nearest neighbour is too far away to hear a thing.

Swim, Soak, and Stargaze
High Cloud is all about outdoor living, too. From May to October, the heated swimming pool sparkles under wide blue skies, ideal for lazy afternoons or morning dips. The covered hot tub is the star of the show though — perfectly placed for sunset views and a bit of stargazing once night falls. The lack of light pollution here means you’ll see the Milky Way with astonishing clarity — a reminder that sometimes the best entertainment is nature itself.
Adventure, Peace, and Possibility
This spot might feel like the middle of nowhere, but it’s perfectly placed for exploring. Within a short drive you’ll find Monmouth, a lovely riverside market town with boutique shops and cafés. Head further into the Wye Valley for canoeing, walking, or vineyard tours, or into the Brecon Beacons National Park for breathtaking hikes.
Back at the property, the sense of peace is unmatched. Whether you’re planning sunrise yoga on the terrace, group games on the lawn, or a quiet glass of wine by the fire, High Cloud gives you permission to slow down. It’s a space where time stretches out and moments matter more.
Pet-Friendly and Family-Approved
High Cloud Farm and Barn are pet-friendly, because let’s be honest — no family gathering is complete without the four-legged members. There’s plenty of space for dogs to roam safely, and the enclosed gardens mean everyone can relax. Inside, the mix of large communal rooms and cosy corners works equally well for children, teens, grandparents, and couples.
It’s that flexibility that makes High Cloud so special — every group uses it differently, but everyone leaves with the same contented feeling: “We’ll be back.”

A Weekend That Feels Like a World Away
At High Cloud, mornings begin with coffee and countryside silence. Afternoons are for swimming, walking, or just lounging under the wide Welsh sky. Evenings bring feasts, laughter, and the golden glow of the setting sun over the hills. And for those who love a bit of mindful balance, the Barn transforms into a serene yoga studio — warm, bright, and surrounded by endless views.
Whether it’s a three-generation celebration, a wellness retreat, or simply an excuse to gather everyone you love, High Cloud offers something truly rare — the luxury of space, peace, and connection.
So pack your walking boots, your swimsuit, your favourite bottle, and your sense of adventure. Up here, above it all, life feels lighter.
