“Symonds Yat is nearby. Good for kayaking or just walking up to Yat rock and the most spectacular views. Lovely river walks from the house. The place was just amazing. We brought instruments and used the party room to play. Kids had a whale of a time. Fascinating to look at all the signed pictures and rock memorabilia around the house. Hot tub and the sunny patio were great for chilling and chatting. Great place for a large family gathering.”
“Stayed here for a long weekend with my family. We had the best time! Mike the manager was a wonderful host, very friendly, informative, knowledgable of the area, and knew the house inside out. He gave us a full tour so we knew what's what when we arrived. The house itself was very impressive, very grand with large rooms and open spaces. The bedrooms were all good sizes and a couple allowed for families with young children to all stay in. The kitchen was a good size and there was plenty of space to dine both inside and out. The added facilities of a games room, hot tub and river swimming were great perks as was the huge grounds with plenty of room for kids to run around and play games. I would highly recommend this house - perfect for a large group.”
“Canoeing in the Wye. Visit Symonds Yat. Country walks. Coffee and shopping in Monmouth. Iconic house and music venue. Delightful and helpful owners. So much to do at the house, there's no need to venture far! EV charging would be a helpful addition”
“Plenty to do around the area like karting, clay pigeon, paintball etc. The town of Monmouth is very picturesque with a number of nice pubs, or even just walking around the area! The house has pretty much everything you need to keep entertained, the kitchen is by far the best and most equipped I've ever seen in a holiday home making dining (even for large groups) a lot easier. I actually can't think of anything in particular to improve, it was pretty near perfect for us!”
“Some of our group had a lovely day walking in the Forest of Deam but the weather was so glorious and the grounds so beautiful that, by and large, we stayed within the confines of the house and gardens. The sheer extent of the communal spaces meant that we could come together as one big group (24 of us) or, when anyone needed a bit of quiet time, there were lots of places to go to in order to find some peace and solitude. The kitchen was the hub of the week and is amazing well-equipped. It dealt with everything we threw at it with ease. The party room was in almost constant occupation. One of our group (he's 14) is on the autism spectrum but is, quite frankly, a savant when it comes to playing the piano (if he hears a tune once he can play it straight away from memory). He spent much of his time there playing the grand piano (a first for him) and was in heaven. The Wi-Fi turned out to be a bit idiosyncratic. It would allow you onto some websites and not others and even (as in the case o”
“The house was an amazing venue - the hens loved the photos and and the history of how had recorded there! The hosts welcome was through and covered everything. The only slight issue was the drain smell in the two bedrooms on the bottom floor! (This has now been addressed)”
