The Anchor
A Historic Village Pub, Now Your Private Retreat
Gather up to 22 guests across 8 en-suite bedrooms with your own bar, hot tub and games room in the heart of the Forest of Dean.
From Village Local to Your Private Getaway
Until 2014 The Anchor was the main pub in the village of Lydbrook. It enjoys a beautiful position in the heart of the village, surrounded by the ancient woodland and winding rivers of the Forest of Dean.
Today, this much-loved local has been thoughtfully converted into one of the area's most characterful group holiday homes. The original pub bar, exposed beams and stone fireplaces remain - giving your stay an atmosphere no purpose-built cottage can match.

"A real guest quote that speaks to the heart of the experience."

“Great layout of the property and so much space for everyone! Games room absolutely made it - would definitely recommend for a family get together!”
“The Jovial Colliers had a nice atmosphere and was very welcoming for a drink. We had a nice afternoon/evening out in Ross on Wye and G Force Karting offered a great experience for a large group. The house had great facilities and suited our needs perfectly, thank you”
“We did a lovely walk along the river but otherwise occupied ourselves in the house. We thought the house was brilliantly set up for a big group. There wasn't anything we needed that we couldn't find and it was spotlessly clean. Nothing to improve that we could think of and we hope to come back again - thanks!”
“Recommened Puzzlewood. Forest of Dean Cycle Centre. Forest of Dean Heritage Centre. Excellent position - better weather (not your responsibility!!) would have made the break more enjoyable”
“Recommends The scaracens at symonds yat. Days out. Goodrich castle. Riverside walking at symonds yat. Tintern abbey. Sculpture trail. Great walks from the house. Loved the space provided in the house for lots of adults. Remarkably clean for a large old building. But most of all it was so well equipped and recognised that we would be cooking for 20 people. Loved the two dishwashers and the fact there was enough logs for the full 5 days. The perfect setting for a large international family reunion. We loved making some very happy memories thank you. In addition the housekeeper could not be more helpful”
“Cafe Vanille was just lovely, and we thoroughly recommend it! We walked along the river which was beautiful, and some went to Symonds Yat- again a great day out. We all had a wonderful time- no improvement necessary.”
