We stayed close to the property as it was such a relaxing area. We were lucky to have great weather so we were able to make the most of the lawn and patio area. A few of our party also visited the Royal Lodge bar for food and drinks which was a lovely experience. Lots of lovely walks on the doorstep.

11 ladies of our party went on an afternoon trip to Brockmoorhead Alpaca walking, Crafting and a afternoon tea which they all enjoyed doing. We enjoyed the whole experience of staying in a large property with family and freinds for a 60th & 65th birthday celebration, everything was catered for in the property for cooking and drinking, the bar was a great touch because we hired a cocktail mixologist so he had the perfect place to do his stuff. Nothing wrong with the kitchen at all, a hired Chef came in and cooked a perfect 4 course meal for us all. The views were stunning the outside area was perfect with seating areas. 10 out of 10

Walk up to Symonds Yat Rock from the back of the property is quit a challenge, but well worth it. Further nature trails available from the rock. Goodrich Castle well worth a visit. Short drive away We enjoyed the central social space and plenty of seating for meals. Well equipped kitchen.

We had an excellent meal at the nearby Saracens Head. We were a big party of 19 and the service and food was excellent. We booked Wye Rapids House for a family get together. The accommodation was excellent. Very clean and well set out for family groups with lots of room options to suit all ages and all of which had stunning views of the river and surrounding countryside. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cooking equipment and crockery etc. The dining room had loads of room. We loved the bar area and the children (and adults!) loved the games room. We had a fantastic weekend and couldn't fault anything.

We really enjoyed our stay. There was lots of space and all facilities were good We enjoyed a walk up the hill and seeing all the Sex Education houses nearby!

Old Court Hotel (< 10 min drive away) was fabulous with wide ranging menu catering for many dietary needs, including Gluten Free and Vegan. Took and managed large group booking (20+) with ease. The Log Cabin at Yat Rock did great hot drinks and in perfect setting. Full House Chinese Take Away (Monmouth) was very good. Walks along the river or up to Yat Rock or through the forests from the property. Monmouth (Shopping) Property's location, views and space for our group was perfect. Could easily walk from and do activities from the property without needing to travel. Property well heat and more than enough kitchen equipment and dining sets to ensure we could cook and not run out of items during the weekend. Separate games room ensure children were entertained and the side annex gave private space for a family unit within our group. Potential idea is to consider swapping the dining area with the lounge area for added space.

Saracens Head and Ye Old Ferrie Inn. The cafe at the top of Symonds Yat was good too! We had loads of walks on our doorstep so didn't venture out!

The Saracens Head - lovely food, great beer and warm welcome Monmouth and Ross-On-Wye town centre The team at BHHL were amazing from start to finish, can't fault customer service in any way, they are so helpful and friendly. Location is perfect, next to a lovely pub and water sports centre and the views are stunning. The house is well equipped, the bar and kitchen are great and the annexe with games room is a bonus with teenagers.

The house is in a fabulous location and for us as a family group of 25 adults and 2 babies it worked brilliantly. V well kitted out and it had everything we needed. The owners were also v helpful. Would definitely recommend. We did a lovely walk along the river towards the weir then at the bridge went up the hill (same side) to the viewpoint and back down coming out just by the house. Also took 4 canoes out for an hour. Great set up and v safe.

Wonderful views of the river and valley, perfect location for activities and eating. All excellent rooms and accommodation. Days out: Monnow Events near Kentchurch for quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, archery and more and Wyedean for canoeing. Eating out: The Royal Lodge, Saracens Head, The Old Court Hotel and any local ones in the area

Bruce MSeptember 2025

Forest of Dean Sculpture park. Symonds Yat viewpoint. Wyedean canoe hire. We loved he position of the house, the large outdoor space, plenty of parking, comfortable rooms, bar area and plenty of space for dining. We struggled with the areas to relax together, if you wanted to settle down and watch a film, there wasn't really space for that. We didn't intend to do that but we had games to play together that we didn't want to sit at the table for and that was tricky. Some of the showers were erratic in flow and temperature.

Caroline HSeptember 2025

The Royal Lodge- excellent food and service The walks around Symonds Yat It was great how every bedroom had a bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for large amounts of people. The outside space is fabulous and the games room is a real bonus. Absolutely stunning surroundings! The decor including carpets is becoming a little tired in some rooms. One of the toilets in one of the bedroom ensuites is coming away from the wall and needs sorting as it is a bit of a hazard.

Jennifer WAugust 2025

Many of our party really enjoyed a day canoeing down the Wye, and the 8-mile trek taking in King Arthur's Cave and Yat Rock

Brian CJuly 2025

We visited both The Saracens Head and The Royal Lodge for lunch and both served lovely lunches and very friendly staff! We enjoyed local walks and a local boat ride too We hired a hot tub from Hereford Hot Tub Hire which was very much appreciated by all the family! Overall a very enjoyable weekend spent here with all our extended family and would love to repeat it again next year!

Maureen HJuly 2025

Plenty to do near the House. Walks, Boat trips, Canoeing and drives or climbs to the top 🔝 f the Rock for spectacular views. Wye Rapids House was perfect for our celebration. Well equipped and the most incredible views! Beds very comfortable. Some rooms had a small problem with the fluctuation of water temperature.

We went for some lovely walks. The walk that started right behind the house that took you straight up the hill to Symonds Yat Rock was great. Amazing views from the top of the Wye river. You can also walk along the river to the rope bridge and beyond. Hereford is also worth a visit. A couple of us went to the Cathedral and did some shopping. The whole weekend was enjoyable from start to finish. We would highly recommend anyone looking for a family getaway/ get together to book Wye Rapids House. It was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Our age range was from 2yrs to 90yrs!!

Clare GFebruary 2025

Walk to Biblins bridge and onwards to the old Ferrie inn. …hopefully return via the hand ferry. Very helpful owner who was very calm and reassuring when the river flooded

Alan SDecember 2024

A well presented property in a wonderful location. The location directly below Symonds Yat Rock, next to the river and a couple of minutes from the local pub could not be beaten. The property is well presented, cosy and warm and the local Management Team responded very quickly to a couple of questions. Highly Recommended.

We didn't do any activities or trips you drive to, but very much enjoyed the hot tub and lots of great nearby walks. Especially discovering the house from Sex Education was just above us! Surrounding scenery is incredible! Fantastic to have each room with its own bathroom, and such a well stocked professional kitchen.

Dodie FNovember 2024

Plentiful walks from the property, no need to use the car. Highly recommended. The property is well presented in a beautiful location and the booking process is easy to use; there is not much you could change. Many thanks to the property Management Team who responded very quickly to some questions we had. Anyone staying at the property has everything they need for a great stay so it's down to them to enjoy it.

Bob PNovember 2024

We enjoyed the walks along the river from the house. A comfortable house to have a family get together.

Frances SNovember 2024

Ross-on-Wye town is a nice and a short drive away. The River cruiser that you can get from just outside of the property is also nice. There are plenty of walks you can do in the area too. The property has everything we needed to keep children and adults entertained and is in a good location with some local amenities and having the River Cruiser on the doorstep was fantastic.

Canoeing down the river Wye was good fun. The Adventure centre is nearby for bookings and we enjoyed a lovely day out in nearby Monmouth. There are several walks around the Symonds Yat area and along the river which are easy to access from the house.

Wye Rapids House is amazingly handy for days literally on the doorstep. The start of the path up to Symonds Yay viewpoint is at the gates, as is gentler the path walk along the river to the Biblins rope bridge across to the tea rooms at the campsite plus. The canoeing center is also so handy - no change of clothes necessary as you can just amble back to the house to freshen up

Madeleine BAugust 2024

Days out we enjoyed, Kingfisher cruise, Eastnor castle, Hereford. Perfectly equipped house for large family holiday.

Victoria FAugust 2024

Just lovely local walks Everything was great. Host was on hand to show where everything was. A great location for a family get together and very peaceful. An added bonus was seeing peregrine falcons in their natural habitat.

The children enjoyed the butterfly farm.

We had a wonderful stay at the property - what a unique location and great opportunity to make use of the river during our time there. We loved the bar area, kitchen was nice and spacious and games room provided great entertainment in the evenings. It was a comfortable stay with lovely views. We'd recommend providing more sponges/cloths to enable us to clean the surfaces and also more bin bags. That being said, the owners/manager was available and provided us those items upon request.

Kate PApril 2024

Canoeing for 9 miles with the team less than 300m away from the house.he views, the owners who were very accommodating and the well provisioned kitchen. The only improvement may be to make the fences dog proof, other than that, we couldn't fault it; we will definitely recommend the venue to friends and family.

Jordan TApril 2024

Lots of great walks - up Symond's Yat for views and along the Wye.

Stephen WApril 2024

Hereford is a nice day out.

Dan SApril 2024

We didn't leave the location as it's stunning. We did lots of walking from the front door - no need for the car! Symonds Yar Rock is definitely worth a hike - views are stunning! Or meandering along the River Wye

Wye Rapids House - 13-15 October 2023 Perfect house for family reunion of all ages - in a beautiful setting next to the river Wye. Great to have the pub nearby and lots of lovely walks. The house is well set up with plenty of space and bathooms for all plus the bonus - a games room which was very popular. Our host was there to welcome us and was very helpful and friendly.

What a fabulous house . Everything you needed and more . Age range was 82 down to a very messy 2 yr old . It had everything we needed to make our stay perfect . Very well presented and spotlessly clean . The games room was a great hit and well equipped kitchen . Panoramic views of the river wye and massive garden area to enjoy a b b q . Alison and the host Graham were perfect and helpful . Highly recommended . We are already planning our next family gathering there . Must do the canoeing and boat trip and for the days that you don't want to cook we were able to book a large table at very short notice at the next hotel 3 mins walk away .

We had a family gathering of 27 in the house and two in the Royal Lodge which worked out well. Two nights only, but we had a fabulous time. It really is a wonderful location but we mostly stayed in and around the house. House was well equipped and very comfortable.

Philip DSeptember 2023

Wye Rapids House is in a fantastic location, literally right on the river, perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding etc. Walks from the house are superb, the climb up to Symonds Yat Rock is strenuous but well worth the effort; easier, level walks along the banks of the river are just beautiful. The house was perfect for 20 of us aged 6 - 76, all en suite bedrooms, lovely dining room and the games rooms were particularly enjoyed by the 10 grandchildren. We really enjoyed the outside space and hot tub and were able to eat outside most days. Just a really great stay, thank you!

Christine RJuly 2023

Amazing Wye Rapids House! A gem in Symonds Yat. My family of 20 stayed at Wye Rapids House for a week. Alison was fantastic at communicating and Graham, our host, made everything so easy. We felt welcomed by everyone we met. It was perfect! The area is beautiful and the house had everything we needed. Highly recommended for family groups, it was definitely meant to be. A memorable visit for all of us. Thank you, Alison from Big House Holidays. Nothing was ever too much, we appreciate it.

The property's facilities aren't new. However it had everything we needed and for us, Graham, our host and his staff were always on hand to answer questions or arrange or fix things. You can tell customer service was important to them. We were first ones to stay at Wye Rapids House as self catering and for us, it worked well. The surroundings were lovely, we could walk to Monmouth or to river or to Symonds Yat Rock. We could drive a short distance to Forest of Dean or Hereford, Monmouth or branch out to Cardiff etc We felt relaxed and like we had a holiday. Thank you Days out: Walk to Symonds Yat Rock (or drive) Walk by river to Symonds Yat West, over bridge and take link ferry across to Symonds Yat East Hereford Cathedral, stroll through park Goodrich Castle surprised us, it was great for whole family. Forest of Dean - Beechenhurst Forest of Dean on general Canoeing either from Monmouth or Symonds Yat So much to do and see, highly recommended the area.
